Description

Prepared to Save Lives in High-Threat Environments 

The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course, developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), provides EMS practitioners and prehospital providers with the tactical medical training needed to operate effectively in civilian high-threat environments. 

Now in its 2nd edition, this 16-hour course is based on guidelines established by the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (Co-TECC) and endorsed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

This course is designed specifically for: 

    • Law Enforcement Officers
    • Military personnel
    • Tactical Medical Providers with EMT or higher certification
    • High-threat environment responders and medics

  • Participants are trained to deliver decisive, lifesaving care in chaotic, high-pressure environments where seconds count.

Course Information

  • Duration: 16 hours
Course Objective

TECC teaches participants how to deliver life-saving care during civilian tactical and mass casualty incidents. The course is structured around the three phases of tactical care, aligned with EMS terminology:

  • Hot Zone / Direct Threat Care
    Care provided under active threat (e.g., active shooter, explosion site)
  • Warm Zone / Indirect Threat Care
    Care delivered once the immediate threat is suppressed but may re-emerge
  • Cold Zone / Evacuation Care
    Care administered during evacuation to a safe area or hospital

This hands-on course includes realistic patient simulations and interactive skill stations, covering:

  • Hemorrhage control and tourniquet application
  • The full MARCH assessment (Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia)
  • Surgical airway management and needle decompression
  • Managing wounded responders under threat
  • Pediatric casualty care
  • Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety

Course Completion Requirements
