Mrs. Karla Reid-Pierre
Mrs. Karla Reid-Pierre, a Canadian citizen, serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (ETITT). As the Chief Executive Officer of the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad & Tobago (ETITT), Karla serves as the strategic leader of the institution, responsible for steering ETITT’s vision, academic excellence, organizational sustainability, and national relevance in EMS education.
With over 35 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), she holds dual qualifications as a Critical Care Paramedic and Respiratory Therapist, and earned her MBA from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
During her tenure in Canada, Mrs. Reid-Pierre played a pivotal role in establishing and managing the Atlantic Health Training and Simulation Centre and contributed to the design and implementation of EHS Lifeflight—a high-performance helicopter-based air medical transport service. She also served as a flight paramedic with EHS Lifeflight before taking on the role of Chief Operations Officer for Emergency Health Services in Trinidad and Tobago from 2002 to 2004.
Mrs. Reid-Pierre is a certified EMS Instructor, holding instructor credentials from internationally recognized organizations including Difficult Airway TM, American Heart Association, the Emergency Nursing Association (USA), the National Association of EMTs, and the Canadian Aerospace Medicine and Aeromedical Transportation Association. She is also a board member of the Trinidad & Tobago Emergency Medicine Association and is committed to advancing collaboration among pre-hospital personnel, physicians, and nurses through progressive educational programs and policies.
Mr. Curt Pierre
Mr. Curt Pierre serves as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and an Executive Board Member of the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad & Tobago (ETITT). In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing the institute’s daily operations, executing strategic initiatives, and fostering a culture of excellence to ensure high levels of student achievement and institutional performance.
With over three decades of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mr. Pierre began his career as a firefighter with the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services. He earned his Emergency Medical Care certification from NIHERST College and later enhanced his expertise through EMT training in New York. His extensive field experience includes service in the petrochemical sector and progressive leadership roles within Emergency Health Services in Trinidad and Tobago, where he has served as Supervisor and Operations Manager from 1999-2005.
As COO, Mr. Pierre plays a pivotal role in aligning ETITT’s operational frameworks with its mission and vision. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, he leads cross-functional coordination across departments to ensure the seamless delivery of administrative, academic, logistical, and technological functions. As part of ETITT’s succession planning, Mr.Pierre looks forward to sharing his many years of knowledge and experience to ensure the organization’s continued success.
Dr. Jason Ettienne
Dr. Jason Ettienne is a highly accomplished Consultant Emergency Physician with over 16 years of leadership experience in Emergency Departments across Trinidad and Tobago. He currently serves as the Head of the Accident and Emergency Department at the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he oversees daily operations and leads clinical and administrative teams in delivering high-quality emergency care.
As the EMS Medical Director at the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad & Tobago (ETITT), Dr.Ettienne is a senior clinical leader, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of medical oversight, quality assurance, and educational excellence in the delivery of emergency medical services training.
An experienced educator and clinical instructor, Dr. Ettienne has served as lead faculty for numerous advanced life support courses and is a lecturer in postgraduate Emergency Medicine programmes. Over the years, he has successfully trained a wide range of healthcare and allied health professionals—including physicians, nurses, EMTs, and students, equipping them with the critical skills needed for high-pressure medical environments.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Ettienne brings proven administrative capability, having managed hospital personnel, infrastructure, and emergency systems across multiple Regional Health Authorities. He is deeply committed to quality improvement and leverages data-driven strategies to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Dr. Ettienne is passionate about fostering a culture of learning and continuous development among his teams. Through strategic leadership, he remains dedicated to advancing emergency medical care in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region.
Mr. Ancil N. Paul
Mr. Ancil N. Paul has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors at the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (ETITT) since February 2011, bringing over a decade of experience in economics, project management, and public sector governance, both locally and internationally.
Currently, Mr. Paul holds a senior position within the Ministry of Planning and Development, where he plays a key role in overseeing critical components of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) and contributes to the drafting of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Budget. His portfolio involves advising on national development projects and strengthening the country’s investment mechanisms.
Previously, he worked as a Junior Economist in the Trade Directorate of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where he was actively involved in bilateral, regional, and multilateral trade negotiations and conducted economic analyses to support policymaking. In addition, he served as an Adjunct Lecturer in Economics at the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT), where he helped nurture the next generation of business and economics professionals.
Mr. Paul is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Southern Caribbean Chapter. He was also an executive member of the Calabash Consortium, a bi-national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Caribbean youth through education and capacity-building strategies.
An Organization of American States (OAS) and National Scholar, Mr. Paul holds a Master of Science in Economics from the City University of New York (CUNY) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting from Monroe College.
His unique blend of academic rigor, public policy insight, and project management expertise continues to support ETITT’s governance and strategic planning efforts.
Mr. Jamille Pierre
Mr. Jamille Pierre serves as the Administrative Manager of the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (ETITT), the nation’s leading provider of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) education. Since joining ETITT in 2013, he has played a pivotal role in enhancing student services, streamlining operations, and advancing institutional efficiency.
His responsibilities span student policy development, continued ACTT registration, strategic planning, and daily operational oversight. His efforts have significantly enhanced student services, policy development, and organizational performance, contributing to ETITT’s expanding influence across the Caribbean.
Mr. Pierre holds a Master of Science in International Business, Leadership and Management from the University of York (UK) and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT). He is a member of the ETITT Board of Directors and is committed to maintaining ETITT’s competitive edge in the EMS sector.
Outside of his professional work, Jamille enjoys aviation and is a recreational pilot of light aircraft, combining his love for travel and languages.
