Dr.Matthew Tjien Fooh is the Medical Director for ETI NV Suriname. He is a medical professional with a Doctorate in Medicine from Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Currently serving as the Medical Director at Auxcilium Medical Services, he leads operations with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient healthcare. His extensive experience includes overseeing vaccination programs, contributing to critical care at the Academic Hospital Suriname, and working in quarantine and swab units for IAM GOLD Suriname.

His main passion lies in emergency care, where fast decision-making, active problem-solving, and high energy are essential. Known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life and understand their perspectives, he builds trust and delivers tailored care. Fluent in English, Dutch, Surinamese, and average in Spanish, he effectively communicates with diverse communities. With certifications in ICU care, and quarantine medicine, Matthew thrives in dynamic environments where urgency and precision are key.

Dr. Zippora Marica

Faculty Representative for ETI NV ACLS & PALS Courses

Dr.Marica is the Faculty representative for the ETI NV ACLS & PALS courses. She is a dedicated doctor with experience in acute care. Her interest in emergency and critical care began during the COVID-19 pandemic when she volunteered as a medical student in the emergency department and ICU. During this time, she saw firsthand how crucial the ICU is in providing care for critically ill patients, and this experience awakened her love for intensive care. After completing her Master’s in Medicine, she worked for three months in the ICU, where she gained hands-on experience with procedures like intubation and central line placement. Dr.Marica is not afraid of hard work and thrive in challenging environments.

Zippora is skilled in crisis management and handling emergency situations with composure. Her ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions has been essential in providing effective patient care during critical times. She is also recognized for her strong communication skills and ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams.

Outside of work, Dr.Marica enjoys going to the gym, dancing, and reading. She also loves walking her dog and am always looking for ways to improve herself both personally and professionally. She is patient-centered in her approach to care, focusing on clear communication and emotional support for her patients. Moving forward, she is committed to specializing further in intensive care and continuing her professional growth in acute care.

Dr. Manish Mohangoo

Primary ETI NV Educator, Medicine Ward Resident at Academic Hospital

Dr.Manish Mohangoo is the Primary Educator for ETI NV continuing education courses. He currently works as a resident in the internal medicine ward of an academic hospital in Suriname. Dr.Mohangoo is always inspired by the complexity and diversity within the medical field as it gives us the opportunity to improve people’s quality of life.

He chose the academic hospital for two main reasons: it allows him to educate young medical students and guide them on their path to becoming doctors, and it allows him the opportunity to pursue his dream of specializing in internal medicine. Throughout his residency, he has encountered various complex cases that have shaped his way of thinking and allowed him to grow as a medical doctor. Furthermore, as a doctor in a resource setting still to be developed, it has allowed him to think outside of the box.

In his free time, he enjoys fitness activities and reading, which helps him maintain a balanced life.

Dr. Jason Smith

Internal Medicine Final Year Student a AdeKUS

Dr.Smith is a young final-year medical student at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS), specializing in internal medicine and currently completing his final clinical rotation at the Regional Health Service (RGD) general practitioner’s office in the district of Saramacca. In addition to his academic training, Jason has worked as a triagist with Huisartsenpost Nederland (HAPNL) and Huisartsenspoedpost Paramaribo (HASPP), gaining valuable experience in patient assessment, emergency coordination, and frontline healthcare delivery.

Passionate about patient care, teamwork, and continuous learning, Jason looks forward to officially beginning his career as a physician, bringing his dedication and skills to the healthcare system of Suriname and beyond. Known for his structured and hands-on approach, he thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates effectively, and values building trust with patients and colleagues alike.

Outside of medicine, Jason enjoys playing football, following exciting matches, and relaxing with video games — a balance that keeps him energized and focused in both his personal and professional life.
