This introductory course covers theories and principles of adult learning and teaching, including development of effective EMS course objectives, lectures, outlines and examinations. The course includes introduction to use of DOT curricula and materials.
The entry-level EMS educator must have the ability to engage in learner-centered, outcome-based practices articulated by the curriculum. Successful completion of the curriculum should provide the opportunity for building and developing teaching skills on a solid foundation that will lead to higher levels of instructional and administrative expertise. Some experience in teaching is preferred.
Individuals involved in pre-hospital or in-hospital care can take the course.
