EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER (FIRST RESPONDER)

This programme is geared towards anyone with an interest in pre-hospital training beyond First Aid, whom may have to respond to and provide medical support for injured or ill individuals until arrival of EMS personnel.

The Emergency Medical Responder acts in a broader role such as HS&E, Law enforcement, Military, Fire department, Prisons department, Industrial response teams, Community response, Security personnel etc. Components of the EMR programme are built along similar lines of the EMT programme and can be used as a pre-requisite into the GATE approved EMT course for those without the academic requirements.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Proficiency in reading, writing and comprehension (proficiency exam to be done)
  • Must successfully complete CPR/AED training
