The Emergency Training Institute of  Trinidad & Tobago was Registered by the
    Accreditation Council of Trinidad & Tobago in June 2009 and our EMT
    programme approved for five (5) years in August 2011. We are proud of our
    accomplishment and would like to thank all the individuals and organizations
    which supported us during this transition. This further demonstrates our
    commitment to quality improvement as indicated in our Mission Statement.

    ADVANCED MEDICAL LIFE SUPPORT

    Our first AMLS course was held at the Ambassador Hotel during the month of May 2005.
    AMLS Chairperson (NAEMT) Ms.Linda Abrahamson and Mr.Gregg Clarkes Affiliate
    member, audited the local Instructors. ETITT management was presented with an award
    and Mrs.Karla Reid-Pierre certified as an affiliate faculty member for the AMLS course in
    Trinidad & Tobago.

    All participants were successful with their examinations including three individuals at the
    Instructor level. Trinidad & Tobago is the first Caribbean country to host this course and
    achieve such status. Thanks to the NAEMT, Mr.Gregg Clarkes and Ms.Linda Abrahamson.

    TOBAGO EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

    The Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad & Tobago in collaboration with Creighton
    University, EMS Education completed an EMT-B programme in Tobago for forty-five
    EMT’s in June 2005. Ten of whom journeyed from Trinidad for the course.

    We would like to thank the following for their support.
  • Management & staff of Creighton University EMS Education as well as Creighton’s
    Instructors Sean and Peggy Dean, Rick Erickson and Andrea Felber.
  • The EMS Instructors from Tobago Mr.Hayden Charles, Mr.Clinton Bailey and Ms.
    Earlyn Craig. Special thanks to Ms.Merle Solomon of the Tobago EMS whose
               support made the training a reality.
  • Tobago Supervisors Callistus Joseph / Lester Frederick and staff.

    DISASTER RELATED MEDICAL TRAINING

    In an effort to promote and standardize training for disaster response by medical
    personnel, the Emergency Training Institute of T&T made a request to Dr..Phillip Coule
    of the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (www.ndlsf.org) to host an information
    session in Trinidad (august 2005). This session focused on the different programmes &
    Tobago's medical response to disasters.

    Representaives from the Petrochemical industry, Military, Police Service, Fire Service,
    Private EMS, Ministry of Health and other private enterprises were in attendance.

    ETITT is looking forward to continued discussions with the NDLSF and the
    commencement of their programmes in Trinidad & Tobago.

    ANGUILLA HEALTH AUTHORITY BCLS & ACLS

    During the month of September 2005, Dr.Jennifer Delamore-Pierre (ETITT course
    medical director), Mrs.Karla Reid-Pierre(Director Training), Mr.Brent Murphy
    (NREMT-P) and Mr.Curt Pierre (ETITT Director) journeyed to Anguilla to coduct BCLS
    training for EMT's and Nurses and ACLS training for physicians.

    ETITT would like to thank the Human Resource Manager (Ms.Meredith Gumbs)and staff
    of the Anguilla Health Authority as well as CEO Mr.Dexter James for making this a reality.
    There was an invaluable exchange of knowledge and culture during our tenure and
    everyone expressed enthusiasm and interest for the training.

    We would also like to acknowledge the support of all participants and the hospitality
    expressed to us by the citizens of Anguilla.

    EMT-B Training for T.E.M.A (Tobago) C.E.R.T programme

    For a period of six weeks in 2005 (Mon-Fri), the Emergency Training Institute of
    Trinidad & Tobago in collaboration with Creighton University EMS Education,
    Nebraska, provided EMT-Basic Training for 42 participants of the CERT programme
    for the Tobago Emergency Management Agency, Tobago(TEMA).

    The participants were very excited about their selection for the CERT programme and
    equally excited about the training they would receive as EMT-B, which was the first
    component of their CERT curriculum.

    ETITT would like to thank the management and staff of TEMA Tobago for their vision in
    implementing such a programme. We would also like to specially thank Mr.Owen Sandy,
    Coordinator TEMA, Mr.Allan Stewart, Mr.Callistus Joseph and Ms.Christine Roberts for their
    support throughout the training.

    Special thanks to Dr.William Raynovich, Director and Assistant Professor of Creighton
    University EMS Education, Mr.Michael Miller Paramedic programme Director as well
    as the Instructors (Rick and Ashley) and all the other staff members for their assistance.

    ADVANCED ASSESSMENT & TREATMENT OF TRAUMA

    This programme was held in May 2010 at the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad &
    Tobago.It was coordinated by Richard Kalasky, Mike Pante of Jones & Bartlett &
    Kay Degrilla

     ETITT was approved as a Training Agency to conduct this programme as of  July 2010.
