BLS Healthcare Provider:

The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a
wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize
several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED,
and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The
course is intended for healthcare and non healthcare
professionals such as Law enforcement, Fire personnel, EMS,
Nurses, HS&E, Physicians, community groups etc

Course Length: Approximately 7 hours

Written/Skills Exam: Required for completion card

Heartsaver First Aid

The Heartsaver First Aid course provides training in basic first-aid
procedures -- including the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA.
It teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult
emergencies in the critical first minutes until Emergency Medical
Services personnel arrive The core module comprises general
principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies including
(but not limited to):
  • sprains
  • fractures
  • allergic reactions
  • head injuries
  • seizures
  • bleeding / bandaging
  • exposure to heat and cold
  • Heart attack/cardiac arrest/strokes

Course length - approximately 8 -16 hours (depending on modules)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

This course is designed for healthcare providers who either
direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in
or out of hospital. Providers will interaction and communication
during resuscitation.

Realistic simulations reinforce the following key concepts:  
proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating
early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac
arrest; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute
coronary syndromes; recognizing other life-threatening clinical
situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; ACLS
algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Course Length: 14 hours approx.

Intended Audience
The course is designed for medical providers such as

physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians,
paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals
who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

Heartsaver CPR/AED

This course focuses on groups whom may have to respond to a
cardiac as well as responding to workplace injuries or illnesses.

Such programmes are fast becoming mandatory in corporate
organizations
The Heartsaver CPR/AED course teaches personnel how to
recognize and respond to 4 major emergencies –
  • heart attack
  • cardiac arrest
  • stroke  
  • choking
Participants will be introduced to the skills of CPR for victims of all
ages including the use of barrier devices. It also focuses on relief

of a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction in responsive and
unresponsive victims and the use of AED for adult and children.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

This course is based on science evidence from the 2005 AHA
Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The objective of the PALS course is

to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge
and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill
infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught
include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for
cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric
assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and
synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus
administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Course Length: 14 hours approximately

Intended Audience:
For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses,
paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers
who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric

emergencies.
